Around the Corner. Ahead of the Curve.

Portuguese Program

There are an estimated 200-210 million Portuguese speakers in the world, making Portuguese one of the top 10 languages spoken in the world. Brazil is the fifth largest country in the world with the eighth largest economy. As we strive to prepare tomorrow's global citizens for competition in the world's work force, Portuguese is indeed, an important asset.

The flexibility within our program allows the teachers at DDCES to meet the needs of students who enter the program from different backgrounds.  Some speak the language with various degrees of fluency but have not learned to read or write Portuguese . Non-Portuguese speakers are first instructed with SL techniques and gradually, as they gain command of the language, they are asked to meet the requirements of the Portuguese curriculum. They are able to move from one level to another according to their progress.
